Interview with Social Media Expert, Elton Kuah of EnrichSocialMedia.com, on What Social Media Can Do For Your Business.

Watch it on YouTube… What Social Media Can Do For Your Business.

Adrian: I use Facebook to talk about what I eat, where I go… but how can social media help businesses?

Elton: If you look at the statistics, which is on the screen here, “The power of social media”, you can reach a potential of eight hundred million users at the moment throughout the world.

Social media will create a brand across this potential customers who are seeing your site… and looking at eight hundred thousand would be like countries behind China and India. So that is the power of Social Media.

Of course if you can do advertising in newspapers and television, you probably need to spend thousands of dollars to actually get to the same level of customers.

With social media, you can actually save a majority of the costs due to the impression of users and how many people see your message.

The amount of paper and flyers you have to distribute, that which you can save a lot of.

Looking at it, I have to educate how the problems business owners face if they want to consider using social media as an effective medium.

So for example…

First problem would be a media that costs money and you can’t actually tell how’s the result.

Likewise at this current trend, newspapers and traditional media are no longer effective to get your customers coming.

Now another problem that I come across from business owners is that they have a website that has been set up but the website have nobody, no visitors or their potential customers just can’t find it on the internet itself.

So in this problem, we’ll say that it’s a case of “build it and they will come” syndrome by the business owner.

On the social media side, we will talk about how to attract customers to come to your website

There are some cases in business owners that they understand what is social media about and yet they can’t actually do it because they don’t understand what is involved in the work or they just don’t have expertise.

Most of the business owner is very busy doing their own activity in their business and they have no time to market via internet medium.

So all these problems will consume time, money and energy.

So that is the form of why I have stressed in the beginning social media is needed as a word-of-mouth marketing tool.

Considered by eighty percent of business owners as the most effective way of getting customers.
